    Leads front-end development and web content management for Southwest digital channels including mobile web and desktop.



    • Maintains content on all existing Southwest Airlines web sites
    • Trains and mentors other developers to provide direction and ensure highest standards
    • Maintains knowledge and guides team in best practices related to industry trends and technologies for front-end development and content management
    • Supports day to day WCM tasks and language translation systems
    • Regularly interfaces with the Business as appropriate to deliver high quality digital experiences for our Customers
    • Collaborates and contributes to maintaining Southwest brand & style guidelines in digital channels 
    • Executes on scalable solutions for long term success and proactively prepares for the future
    • Understands big picture and impacts with a focus on future state
    • Provides solutions and recommendations for issues
    • Applies best practices in translating business needs and strategic initiatives into digital experiences
    • Tells a compelling and relevant story that conveys well thought-out recommendations, creates a point of view, collaborates effectively, presents with poise and confidence
    • Is adaptable to evolving business needs and a changing environment
    • Must be comfortable with some content creation or manipulation
    • Solution oriented; positively impacts the environment of his or her direct team and Marketing department
    • Works with leader to align on priorities, constructively address project work, and build personal development plans
    • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
    • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.



    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.


    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
    • Degree in digital/graphic design, web development, advertising, marketing, or a related field preferred
    • Advanced degree preferred


    • Minimum 5 years experience as a web developer or related field including strong front-end development required
    • Minimum 2 years experience with an enterprise Content Management System required
    • Experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within enterprise Content Management Systems is required
    • Advanced experience using HTML and CSS to create web content is required
    • Experience with browser compatibility, Javascript, and WCAG guidelines is strongly preferred
    • Experience using Interwoven/Teamsite, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Adobe Experience Manager, and Adobe Campaign is preferred
    • Minimum 2 years experience mentoring other developers preferred






    • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
    • Ability to exhibit strength in design & development skills in order to problem solve both creative and technical challenges 
    • Strong project management skills required
    • Proficiency with software packages including Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office is preferred
    • Communicates effectively by listening intently, questioning appropriately, and articulating clearly in both written and verbal formats
    • Handles high volumes of work with ability to prioritize effectively and hit promised timelines
    • Delivers quality work within a low-cost environment
    • Ability to demonstrate high emotional intelligence in various situations dealing with both Customers and fellow Employees


    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
