    Responsibilities

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assist project managers in management of projects, including expansions, renovations and new build out of airport facilities. 

     

    Duties could include space planning, travel to project locations, doing field measurements, taking photos, communicating to customers, and documentation related to the project.

    Qualifications

    A Facilities Design Intern will assist the Department with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

    • Working with our internal Customers to identify what the spaces need to be used for, and gathering the Customer's ideas and requirements
    • Coming up with space plans and designs that meet the Customer's needs, while applying our Company standards
    • Inspecting and verifying spaces and building
    • Carrying out research to insure plans are technically feasible and comply with local codes
    • Producing rough sketches 
    • Developing detailed designs, often using AutoCAD or Bluebeam
    • Choosing the most appropriate materials for the design and budget
    • Setting schedules for the project
    • Advising Customers on progress
    • Supervising the work as it is carried out

    Basic Qualifications:

     

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

     

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Prefer students graduating between December 2019 - May 2020

     

    To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours.)

     

    Maintained 2.5 or above cumulative GPA.

     

    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

     

    EDUCATION:

     

    Progress towards degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related degree is required.

     

    Experience:

     

    Prior (full-time, part-time, or internship) work experience preferred.

     

    One or multiple studio classes preferred

     

    Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.

     

    Experience in Word and Excel preferred.

     

    AutoCAD experience is preferred.

     

    Bluebeam experience is preferred

     

    Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Work Style:

    Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as part of a team.

     

    Excellent time management skills required.

     

    Oral and written communication skills required.

    Time Commitment:

     

    Full Time - 40 hours per week.

     

    PAY:

     

    $15.00 hourly + flight privileges

     

    This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building.
