    Responsibilities

    Responsible for ensuring the activities of the Technical Operations department are compliant with specific Airworthiness Directives (AD). Responsible for creating and maintaining records associated to compliance plan requirements, programs and procedures in response to an AD and distributing information within Southwest Airlines operational departments as appropriate.

     

     

    WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:

     

    Project Management:

    • Responsible for notification of Airworthiness Directives (AD), NPRM or Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins (SAIB) to appropriate Tech Ops Groups
    • Liaisons with government agencies to ensure compliance with federal regulations
    • Serves as Project Leader of an AD by ensuring the completion all compliance plan requirements within Southwest Airlines operational departments
    • Responsible for the oversight of all records associated with NPRMs and ADs, including but not limited to: open action item database, electronic files and maintenance records.
    • Facilitates cross functional meetings to identify Maintenance and Engineering requirements necessary to comply with an AD  
    • Responsible for compliance plan risk assessment and communication of mitigating action items as required to meet project objectives
    • Mentors other Employees to create a better understanding of ADs

    Technical:

    • Responsible for reviewing and creating synopsis of AD instructions for non-technical audience
    • Performs technical reviews of compliance documents to ensure all requirements are met
    • Performs audits of compliance records to ensure accuracy, and completed information is provided
    • Reviews documents for new and used aircraft to ensure compliance with all applicable ADs
    • Produces and provides a final AD report  for the applicable aircraft sale or lease return 

    Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.

     

    May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience required.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 3 years aircraft maintenance management or quality assurance (oversight) experience required
    • Experience leading multiple assignments concurrently  

    LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:

    • A+P certificate preferred

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Must be able to work in an aircraft maintenance hangar environment including frequent climbing on maintenance stands and lifts 

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

    Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.

    • Must be able to follow detailed procedures and processes, and provide guidance to other internal Teams to ensure compliance
    • Must be able to organize large complex requirements into easily understood objectives for less technical audiences
    • Able to effectively manage several work streams concurrently
    • Able to create and implement work plans to achieve project objectives
    • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, and is motivated by setting and achieving goals
    • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to demonstrate problem solving skills
    • Able to work collaboratively, enlisting input and expertise from Team members impacted by ADs
    • Able to overcome obstacles and resolve conflicting priorities in a cross functional Team setting
    • Builds trust and influence without direct authority
    • Proactively identifies risks and issues and develops mitigation plans to ensure objectives are met
    • Able to develop compliance plans with Customer in mind to ensure high level of compliance
    • Communicates effectively both written and verbally, ensuring Teams impacted by an AD understand processes and procedures and implications of risks associated to exceptions
    • Must have sufficient technical knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance landscape to interpret highly technical information
    • Must adapt to the use of technology to improve the effectiveness of assignments, increase efficiency and quickly complete work assignments  

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
