Undergraduate degree hires will enter the Southwest Airlines Technology Department as Associate Software Engineers. Associate Software Engineers develop program code, analyze, design, test, document, and implement application systems in accordance with internal business requirements, and organizational standards.
Associate Software Engineers also respond to production problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.
These individuals partner with other Technology Teams to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, and influence technical designs.
System Development Engineering:
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
One year work experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, Architect, or relevant college coursework preferred
At least one Software Engineering Internship preferred
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred (either current student or final GPA for student that has graduated)
Demonstrated leadership and initiative preferred
Strong organizational skills preferred
Ability to solve problems creatively preferred
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
Must maintain well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
