Responsibilities

The Ground Operations Team supports our Customer’s journey from the time they arrive at the airport, all the way until the Customers deplane and their bags are unloaded.

 

 

The Safety Team works with both above wing and below wing activities to ensure all operations are performed in safe and complaint way.

 

The Safety, Standards, and Compliance Intern(s) will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Concentrates on the management of research, data acquisition/analysis, and oversight of regulatory policies and procedures
  • Assist Leaders with federal agency requests for information or responses as a Liaison with other department standards teams
  • Communicate potential changes to policy, procedures, operating platforms, projects as they apply to regulatory changes.
  • Operational risk assessments
  • Trend and root cause analysis
  • Bringing on the 737Max fleet

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at time of application (minimum of 12 credit hours)

 

Minimum of Sophomore level by hours (30+) at the start of the internship

 

Minimum of a 2.75 or above cumulative GPA

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

 

Education:

 

Progress towards degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical based degree emphasizing on Safety and Regulatory Compliance or Business related degree.

Skills:

  • Experience with Pivot Tables, Vlookup preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of FAA’s Air Transportation Oversight System (ATOS) preferred
  • Experience in root cause and trend analysis preferred
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT preferred
  • Aviation Safety or Regulatory Compliance experience (i.e. organizations, previous internship, or work experience within the past 12 months preferred).
  • Self-starter, critical thinker and innovator of ideas that could lower cost and increase value for SWA
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines
  • Problem solving ability with strong written/verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to function as part of a Team

TIME COMMITMENT:

 

Full-time - 40 hours per week

 

PAY:

$15.00 per hour + flight privileges
