To insure that Southwest Airlines Customers and Employees receive informative, consistent, and timely information regarding our Company. Our Communicators specialize in Communication/Media Relations, Employee Communications, and Emerging Media—using several different communication channels to distribute information. Southwest Airlines Outreach Team is comprised of the Community Relations and Giving Team which endeavors to create goodwill in the communities we serve through charitable giving, volunteerism and community programming; the Community Affairs and Grassroots Team that cultivates mutually beneficial relationships in our diverse communities in order to position Southwest Airlines as a trusted community partner and carrier that cares; and, the Emergency Response Team which leads Companywide preparedness efforts by providing training, resources, and tools to ensure Southwest Airlines is ready to respond confidently and compassionately to disruptive events.
The Emergency Response (ER) Team maintains the Southwest Airlines Emergency Response Plan which addresses the needs following an aircraft incident or accident and also includes plans for international, facility emergency, pandemic, terrorist, weather, and operational disruption events that may affect Southwest Airlines. The ER Team also oversees the forty Emergency Response Teams, from all work groups across the Southwest system, who are designated and trained to activate. To test the Program in a learning environment, the Emergency Response Team also develops and facilitates several types of exercises ranging from tabletop-style exercises to full-scale drills. Conducting exercises and drills on an ongoing basis is an integral part of the ER Program.
