Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Quality Control Operations Research Developer Internship affords an opportunity to participate in the development of airline industry quality control processes.  Individuals in this role are expected to multitask and handle a variety of responsibilities including predictive modeling, graph analysis,

 

The Intern needs to have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal customers gathering confidential information for analysis and reporting. These individuals should have experience with creating models and simulations. Individuals in this role may also assist with industry reporting and communicating real-time changes. The goal of this role is to find optimal solutions through data analysis.

 

Individuals are expected to have a strong technology background including the use of Microsoft Office, SQL, and VBA.

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

Progress toward undergraduate or graduate degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, IT, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Aviation related field.

 

Minimum sophomore level.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

 

Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Highly skilled in data analysis and the ability to create Pareto charts, pivot tables in Excel, and solve unknowns using Linear Programming or the Simplex Method is preferred.

 

Classroom and/or industry experience using programming languages building applications, preferred languages including Python, JavaScript, Ruby, HTML5, VBA and SQL. 

Basic knowledge and experience of web application development, processing data in XML, JSON and text format.

 

Basic understanding of hardware architectures and network systems.

 

Educational or working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma quality improvement processes is a plus.

 

Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred.

 

Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills.

 

Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments.

 

Involvement in organizations, social service, and leadership roles. 

 

Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous and compassionate.

 

Previous internship experience related to Operations Research within the last 12 months is preferred.
